The CAVA Annual General Assembly was held as an online meeting on 29th January 2023 where key issues had been discussed with the CAVA President Mr. Mohamed Latheef presiding over the meeting. CAVA Secretary General Mr. Kylych Sarbaghyshev from Kyrgyzstan also arrived in Maldives to initiate the online meeting.
The four-hour-long meeting was present and represented by 13 National Federations with important decisions were made including the establishment of CAVA administrative office in Maldives and appointing an auditor.
The General Assembly also approved the Minutes of CAVA AGM 2021 and activity report of 2021.
The development programs, volleyball and beach volleyball calendar 2023 were already raised for consideration, further discussion and approval. However, it was decided that the dates of volleyball and beach volleyball calendar 2023 will be finalized after the AVC activity calendar has been approved and published.
During the meeting, Mr. Latheef thanked all presidents, secretary generals and officials of all CAVA affiliated National Federations for their hard work, commitment and energy for CAVA success. The CAVA President also thanked National Federations for a successful closure of 2022.
As special invitees FIVB Director Asia and Oceania Mr. Luis Alexandre, FIVB Head of FIVB Technical and Development Department Mr. Steve Tutton and his colleague Mr. Hitesh Malhotra also joined the online meeting.
Mr. Steve and Mr. Hitesh shared valuable information on FIVB development programs. They also answered questions from delegates on FIVB Volleyball Empowerment Program. The information shared has motivated National Federations and are clearer on how to submit proposal for FIVB Volleyball Empowerment Program.
Interacting with the FIVB delegation, Dr Mohammad Reza Davarzani, President of Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation (IRIVF) and also CAVA Vice President, said that the Central Zone has more than 2 billion people and is the biggest zonal association in the world. “Any investment in this zone will be useful to volleyball in the future”, he said, asking FIVB and AVC to increasingly invest in the zone.
During the meeting, Mr. Luis Alexandre highlighted the importance of having regular meetings to understand the needs. “Your success is our success,” Mr. Luis said, adding, “A simple and true discussion among all of us will always succeed.”
CAVA President Mr. Latheef thanked FIVB President Dr. Ary Graca and FIVB General Director Mr. Fabio Azevedo for their continued support and assistance to CAVA. He also highlighted the importance of FIVB Volleyball Empowerment Program through which remarkable developments are seen from countries.
Also, Mr. Latheef thanked AVC President Mrs. Rita Subowo and AVC Secretary General Mr. Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai for their guidance for sustainable development of volleyball in the zone.
The meeting came to a fruitful conclusion at 2pm Maldives time.
